Serhii Prytula met with the Ukrainian community in Washington as part of the North American tour

A joint event of the Ukrainian World Congress, the Serhii Prytula Charitable Foundation, and the 412th Nemesis Brigade took place in Washington, bringing together the Ukrainian community and Serhii Prytula, founder of the Serhii Prytula Charitable Foundation. The event was held at the Saint Gabriel Institute for Church Communications as part of the One United Fundraiser 2026 tour across the United States and Canada, aimed at protecting Ukrainian civilians, cities, and energy infrastructure from Russian Shahed drone attacks.

The discussion was moderated by Andriy Shevchenko, Head of Mission of the Ukrainian World Congress.

The Ukrainian community in the U.S. capital warmly welcomed the foundation’s leader. During the meeting, Serhii Prytula, together with Major Volodymyr Horodnychyi, senior officer of the civil–military cooperation group of the 412th Nemesis Brigade, spoke about the protection of civilians, countering drone attacks, and supporting Ukrainian defenders on the front lines.

Serhii Prytula also gave special attention to the issue of Ukrainian children who, because of the war, are studying abroad, and the challenges faced by families considering a return to Ukraine.

“We need to find ways to bring Ukrainian children back. I visited a school in Toronto, I was in Brooklyn, and I know many children studying abroad. Even if a family wants to return to Ukraine, the children are already integrated into the education systems of Germany, the United States, or Poland. When they come back, they have to pass entrance tests for Ukrainian universities. If they fail, they cannot enroll. So parents keep them in schools and universities abroad. This path is obvious, which is why we need to work on adaptive programs for Ukrainian children who will be returning home,” Prytula said.

The One United Fundraiser tour covers eight cities across North America and aims to unite Ukrainian communities in support of Ukraine, raise funds to protect the skies, and strengthen the country’s defense capabilities.
